The Historic Preservation Committee
6:30pm · 1809 Summer Street
The Historic Preservation Committee meets monthly, at 1809 Summer Street at 6:30. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 18th. The committee has been discussing the creation of minimum lot sizes and possible areas for Historic Districts. Please join us if you'd like to learn more about protecting your neighborhood from over-development. All are welcome!
High Speed Rail
As was recently reported in the Chronicle, the City is planning to hire an engineering firm to investigate the possibility of extending into downtown the planned high-speed rail line, which is currently planned to terminate in the 290/610 area. Houston High-Speed Rail Watch, an inter-neighborhood group which includes First Ward representatives, is working to find out more. It is our hope that the study will focus on the I-10 corridor, but we need to determine whether there is any chance that neighborhoods might once again find themselves in the path of the high-speed rail route.
