Join First Ward Civic Council, Old Sixth Ward Neighborhood Association, and Arts District Houston/Fresh Arts for a fun evening event of community camaraderie, meeting our local representatives, police officers, and fire fighters, supporting local businesses, and learning more about the wonderful Arts District we live in!
First Ward Holiday Party
Join the First Ward Civic Council and your neighbors for a fun evening of holiday celebration!
Feel free to bring your favorite dish for a community potluck, as well as a donation item. Youth sweaters, jackets, and sensory toys are highest priority on the list of needs and will be donated to Crockett Elementary!

Join the First Ward Civic Council on Tuesday, Oct 4 for nationally-celebrated National Night Out. This is a block party-style evening of neighborhood camaraderie with neighbors, local businesses, elected officials, and local law enforcement.

First Ward Spring Picnic
Join the First Ward Civic Council’s Special Events Committee for our Q2 event: a spring picnic! We’ll have food from neighborhood restaurant Fainmous Barbecue available, as well as lawn games, a Cornhole tournament, and crafts for the kids. Bring your whole family!
This event will take place at Randall P Jones Park at the corner of Summer and Johnson streets. Food will be available from 11am until it runs out, but you’re welcome to hang out for as long as you’d like!

May First for First Cleanup
Join the First Ward Civic Council as we clean up trash along our beautiful streets! After the hard work is done, we’ll enjoy tacos, coffee, and maybe a few beers!

Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
The FWCC Special Events Committee is thrilled to announce our second quarter event! We’ll be hosting a scavenger hunt that incorporates two of the unique aspects of our neighborhood: Second Saturday at Sawyer Yards (open artist studios) and the Market at Sawyer Yards.
The scavenger hunt will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 4:30 pm. We’ll begin at Sawyer Yards, race around the studios and the neighborhood, and end in time to enjoy some art, food, and drinks at the market! Plus, we’ll have prizes!
